The local trajectories are set in Marseille, Antwerp and Rotterdam. We meet up twice a month to discuss issues, analyse causes of gender-based violence, and come up with solutions.

Based on our testimonies and reflections, we practice a form of art – fine arts, visual arts, dancing, music playing, singing, writing – and create artistic elements that express the issues we have been exploring.

In November 2024, we brought together the creative elements prepared by the 3 groups in a week-long residency in Antwerp, organised by Madam Fortuna. At the end of this week we have performed in front of an audience in Het Oude Badhuis (check out our Gallery for pictures and videos).

Follow along our path of researching, building strong connections, finding our inner artist, and creating this powerful message of change.

I am more aware of women’s rights. I keep my boundaries to men who attack me verbally. I don’t accept that anymore. My father used to hit my sister and I quite often and I don’t accept it anymore. It’s not because you are a man, and you are physically stronger than me, that you can hit me. It’s not ok. It makes me more confident and powerful.

I was looking at the group and there are so many people from so many different backgrounds. And I was really ‘Wow’! It is not only women united, we are women from all over the world united and that is so beautiful and powerful to see. I feel very grateful to be part of it.

I feel that I founded my freedom with the project. I became more open and freer to say no, and to raise awareness in public [about FGM]. It is amazing. I helped with my self-confidence, self-esteem and to say no. No more silence. I feel it when I say it.
