We are pleased to announce that the book Performing Futures: The 2026WOMEN Artivist Methodology to Promote Gender Justice will be launched on 29 March 2026. Written from within the 2026WOMEN movement by the feminist geographer Maria Teresa Braga Bizarria, the book presents the collective’s unique art-based methodology co-designed to advance gender justice.
Through a blend of autoethnographic analysis and participatory approaches, Dr Bizarria explores how artivist practices can reimagine futures rooted in care, culture, and justice. With a PhD in Human Geography and international recognition for her innovative feminist and decolonial research, she brings both scholarly depth and activist passion to this work!
Performing Futures invites readers to engage with collective and embodied practices, offering a thoughtful reflection on the intersections of art, activism, and social transformation. It is both a methodological guide and a call to action for those committed to building more equitable futures. Alongside the genealogy of the project and its art-based methodology, the book also brings a reflection about the 50th Anniversary of the International Tribunal on Crimes Against Women, hosted in Belgium last March.
As a tool of dissemination of the work co-developed by Madam Fortuna vzw and the 2026WOMEN collective alongside multiple partners, this book is particularly valuable for artivists, researchers, and social workers seeking innovative tools to foster gender justice. By systematising the organic methodology developed by the 2026WOMEN collective, it offers concrete strategies for those working in community engagement, cultural projects, and social transformation. Its participatory approach empowers professionals and activists alike to integrate creative methodologies into their work, making it a resource for both academic inquiry and grassroots action.
