In 2025, the 2026WOMEN in Antwerp have been gathering for sewing workshops. Guided by our costumes director Pauline Gaeremynck, the women keep creating flowers to cover the ‘Cape of Good Hope’. This collective piece became part of the visual art pieces of the project since 2024, and will also be exhibited during the Tribunal26 in Antwerp.

Making allusion to the Cape of Good Hope, a challenging navigation cross, we are stitching together colourful and inclusive futures. By the hands of women from multiple nationalities and backgrounds, our cape is an artistic statement of equity in diversity.

The meetings are usually hosted at Popi’s Place atelier. To increase the participation of different women, some workshops happened on the Red Cross shelter in Westakkers (Sint-Nikklas). We also sewed during one of our regular meetings, when we welcomed the scholar-activist Monika Triest.
